Privacy Policy

2) Data Stored on Your Device

The following information is created by you and stored locally on your device only. We do not upload it to our servers and cannot access it:

• Your bookshelf: books you add, their covers, reading status, and progress;
• Reading sessions, timers, reading goals, and the statistics calculated from them;
• Notes, quotes, and vocabulary cards you create while reading;
• The name you enter during onboarding and the optional photo on your reader card.

Home Screen widgets and Live Activities read this data through a private App Group container on the same device. If you enable device backups (for example, iCloud Backup), this data may be included in your backup under Apple's terms, which we do not control. Deleting the App removes this data from your device.

3) Camera & Photos

• Camera: With your permission, the App uses the camera to scan book barcodes (ISBN) and cover text so you can add books quickly. Recognition is performed on-device using Apple's VisionKit and Vision frameworks. Camera frames are not stored or transmitted; only the recognized ISBN or title text may be used for a book search (see Section 4).
• Photos: When you choose a picture for a book cover or your reader card, the App receives only the image you select through the system photo picker. The image is saved locally on your device.
• Flashlight: The App can turn on your device's torch as a reading light. This does not involve collecting any data.

You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings.

4) Book Search & Dictionary Services

To find books, fetch covers, and look up word definitions, the App sends search requests directly from your device to the following public services. A request contains only the search text (such as a book title, author name, ISBN, or a single word) and standard technical information that any internet request includes, such as your IP address. We do not attach your name, notes, or any identifier to these requests.

These providers process requests under their own privacy policies.

5) Notifications, Widgets & Live Activities

If you allow notifications, the App schedules local notifications on your device (for example, when a reading timer ends). Reading timers can also appear as Live Activities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, and your progress can be shown in Home Screen widgets. All of this runs locally; we do not operate a push notification server.

6) Subscriptions & In-App Purchases (RevenueCat)

Flappybook Pro subscriptions are processed directly by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store your payment details, card numbers, or billing addresses.

To unlock features, validate purchases, and manage subscription status, Flappybook uses RevenueCat (provided by RevenueCat Inc., USA). RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user identifier, purchase history, and StoreKit transaction metadata in accordance with its privacy policy:

7) Application Analytics (Google Analytics)

To understand how the App is used, find problems, and improve the reading experience, Flappybook uses Google Analytics for Firebase (provided by Google LLC).

• Data collected: Pseudonymous usage events (e.g., screen views, onboarding steps completed, reading sessions started or finished, features used, subscription screen views), an app instance identifier, app version, device model, operating system version, language, and approximate country derived from the IP address.
• What we do not send: The content of your notes, quotes, vocabulary cards, your reader card name or photo, and camera images are never sent to analytics.
• No advertising tracking: We do not use analytics data for targeted advertising and do not link it with third-party data for cross-app tracking.
• Retention: Analytics data is kept only for the limited retention period configured in Google Analytics and is then deleted automatically.
• Privacy policy: Data collected by Google Analytics is processed in accordance with Google's privacy policy:

8) Children's Privacy

Flappybook is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9) Data Subject Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Because your library, reading history, and notes stay on your device, you are always in full control of them and can delete them by deleting the App. With respect to pseudonymous analytics data or any correspondence with us, you have the right to request access, correction, or deletion, and to object to processing, by contacting us directly. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
